but why do you need an installer for a "compiled" Perl program There are tons of reasons that may require an installer. Registry keys might need setup, Autostart may be required, Desktop icons to be made, a provided uninstaller,... etc. And a proper installer will allow rollout by a central (Windows) Package Managment.
