I am now convinced that targeting a high-level language like javascript isn't going to result in a speedup. FWIW: I reached a similar conclusion. Which is why I think the only game in town is (a) Low Level Virtual Machine. I'm not (yet) convinced that it can work its magic on Perl5; but I think it would be (have been?) the best possible underpinning for Perl6. With the rise and rise of 'Social' network sites: 'Computers are making people easier to use everyday'
