it's been a relatively cold winter here
And because of that, a lot of people in California suddenly got the idea that they were having "weather".
We flew to Los Angeles over the winter holidays and my mother actually told me, who lives in Northern Europe, to "dress warm". She's a native of North Carolina and should really know better.

(you get used to a climate easily, and what was "cold" yesterday is "really really cold" today).

I am forced to snicker at such comments. I mean... a low of 50ºF is the equivalent of 10ºC. Two days ago, we were at -45ºC, the equivalent of -23ºF -49ºF. Ha! :P
Update: Fixed conversion result of ºC to ºF. Don't know what I did wrong to get my numbers.

With or without the wind chill? As we say in Montreal to all the prairie folk (Well, at least it's a dry cold)

Worst I've been in is -38 C. That's cold enough for me.

Here in Montreal we're in the middle of two solid days at -41C, but I remember years where the wind brought us down below -50.

Yep, global warming really has been taking its toll I would think. Not too long (maybe seven years?) ago, we surely hit much much lower temperatures than we do these last years. Not nearly as much snow here either. There was a time when we had a couple feet of snow, now we're lucky if we have snow for Christmas! And I am only 18 years old. Which demonstrates even further that these weather changes are quite recent :)

today it was like -5 degrees F and it didnt even feel that cold to me
i went outside in a sweatshirt
so yeah
im pretty sure you have it pretty good where ever you are.

my condolences.. we hit 10C last winter and had to bring in the couch and telly from the outdoor living area for a week and a half.. sheesh! 8)
Most of the year we have overnight minimums around 20-22C.. we're up to 25C overnight now..
