I have carefully removed my usual signature from this post, which identifies where I work at present. My employer knows I'm looking for work, but I think they would rather not advertise that to the world for sundry reasons.

I'm going to need a new job soon. My criteria are, in descending order of importance:

Now ... I hardly expect my fellow monks to offer me a job based on this rant. What I'm hoping to find is a few leads on technical recruiters who specialize in Perl/Unix/Open Source and my selected area. If you have such leads, email me at "jeff dot boes at gmail dot com"; you will have my undying gratitude if such a lead works out for me.

And yes, I know of Monster.com, jobs.perl.org, Guru.com, WorkZoo.com, and Rentacoder. I have been looking since May 2004 to find a job that doesn't involve relocation from SW Michigan, and since May 2005 in my wider area described above.

Perhaps you could do some networking and attend some Perl Mongers meetings in the areas you outlined. I know from time to time a job request will run through these circles...

    Good luck and happy hunting!

How smart! Every other post of yours has such a signature.

Then you shouldn't have stated that!

The first thing one does is (your homenode -> writeups -> previous one) and see what it contained before!

      That was his intention, perhaps?

Geez, you ascribe far more evil intentions to me than I could imagine. The idea was to protect my employer in the best way I could, without posting anonymously (which wouldn't help much if I was looking for advice on a recruiter). Sure, you could dig out my info by looking it up, but then it's on YOUR initiative that you found it out, not mine.

Criminy, but is everyone here a Dilbert refugee??

I have never been a fan of signatures, since the early usenet days through to emailing and posting on PerlMonks.

Some people love signatures, some people multicolour their signatures, but rarely do signatures provide relevant information to the message at hand. If you need to add contact details, then do so, but remove them if you don't (is my philosophy anyway).

And sometimes signatures can bite you.. as it seems to have done here, perhaps posting this thread anonymously could have been a more advantageous (in retrospect) strategy..

Just a comment from my experience, it seems word-of-mouth employment is far more powerful than submitting 100+ resumes to online recruitment sites.

I listed jobs.perl.org in my original post.

I doubt recruiters are going to be visiting PM. This is a Perl help site, not a place to find a job.

Man, nobody reads posts anymore. I'm not looking for job offers here. I'm looking for referrals to recruiters, as in "I got a great Perl/DBI job working with Mr. Ace Recruiter at Acme!"

        nobody reads posts anymore

I disagree, tennis is a great sport!
