This is better, (direct, all in one (print view)) link to the "actual story". 26 mostly one-line questions, answered with, one or two sentence answers (nothing new or particularly interesting) by a (reading between the lines), somewhat skeptical or bored LW.
If you turn off images and JS before following that link, it loads at a reasonable speed, won't force you to suffer the 2MB of download to read 5k of story, and you can read all 26 Q&As on one page rather than 6!

Thank you for trying. Unfortunately, your link didn't work for me (and I had javascript disabled), it just lead to the "first page", took forever to load, and then I went to "print this" after that. I hope it will work for some others. Once at the "print this" version, the URL was the same as the one you gave, so I'm uncertain what enabled the redirection.
BTW, I think the article had "signals" when Larry said "sigils".

Depends. The slashdot link will get you (indirectly) to the original content, but also provide the slashdot community reaction to it. I can see that as being valuable at least some of the time.

It's kinda hard to argue with "depends". Sure, if a slashdot thread were a primary source, e.g. if a Perl personality were engaged in an interesting discussion there, then a News post pointing to it could make sense. But in a case like the above, pointing to a slashdot post only adds an unnecessary level of indirection. In general, threads on slashdot, use.perl, et al. are not news-worthy; they're junk. Those of us who are interested in reading flamefests on other sites are already doing so. Think about it: what sense would it make for someone at yet another site to link to this thread in order to announce that
"Larry Wall Talks Perl, Culture, and Community"? To be frank, I felt like I had been rickrolled when I clicked marto's link.
Between the mind which plans and the hands which build, there must be a mediator... and this mediator must be the heart.
