You can already do something pretty close to this using the (exceptionally handy) Personal Nodelet (see What are Nodelets?); it lets you add the current node to your nodelet (or scratchpad) with one click. You don't even have to up-vote it (which is a good thing, IMO, since I up-vote a lot more nodes than I care to keep track of, and there are nodes that I want to keep track of that I can't or don't want to up-vote at the time for whatever reason).

While I agree that we have Personal Nodelet, my suggested way can make that even more useful.
With a nodelet for 'nodes I recently upvoted (or voted)', the list can get updated automatically, with your voting. Thus you can get benefit with single click or action of voting. Later on, if you like it, you can always add them in "Personal Nodelet". So with my suggested way, we are not taking anything away from current system, but adding a good functionality for sure. Just assume, I have seen few nice nodes and I have upvoted them, but I don't have time to comment, and I like to clear my newest nodes to keep things clear, I can view the recently ++ node list and comment after couple days. This will make voting even more conscious, as it can be 'used' later.
Another benefit is that, I can make myself more aware of what is going on Perlmonks and would be pleased as Perlmonks can remember what I liked, which extends the personalization effect. Also you will receive it as personalization system created by system, rather than yourself. You will certainly like that.
To make the place clutterless, we can always build some logic, such as if you have '++'ed multiple nodes for given parent node, show the parent node instead of children nodes.

I dunno, I don't see it being any more useful than Best Nodes. The number of votes cast in a day is probably in the thousands, at least. The rotation of nodes listed in a nodelet like that would be so high I don't think it would be very useful.

I don't see how this would be a bad thing. Perlmonks obviously already stores info on which posts you've voted on, since it uses that info to choose whether to let you vote on a specific post or not. Why not give people the capability to view a listing of posts they've upvoted (or downvoted?) I'm sure the site admins already have something like this set up for their own use. | [reply] |
