Against my better judgement I've decided there must be a calendar this year, and the first installment is online over there. The pretty graphics will come later. I suspect this one isn't as in depth as some would like, but let me know. Personally I always looked forward to just having things pointed out that've been lurking in the dark shadows of CPAN... or were as plain as the nose on your face and as easily overlooked.

PS> /msg if there's a module you would like me to consider for the list (though I have plenty) and you aren't it's author, or are interested in helping out.

I don't know about others, but the listing that you provide on that page would be more useful for me if it were alphabetical in addition chronological. That way, if I wanted to recommend a module, I don't have to scan the whole page. I know, I know, my browser has a "find" feature. Still...

I don't follow your logic of listing order somehow affecting recommendation but here you go anyways: ASCII-betical

Let's say I'm thinking "Hey, I really like the Frobizinator module! I should recommend it for treatment on the Perl Advent calendar." With an alphabetical listing, I can look very quickly and see if it's received exposure before. That's all. :)

I suggest something with one of the Flash-generation modules. You could do a 2-in-1 calendar with SWF-Builder and SWF-File. Maybe something to make a super-animated slideshow from a directory of jpg's......so we can all get in on the flash advertising game. :-)
