Hi Website-Driving-Monks, just got aware of the fact, that calling this site via different host names (e.g. perlmonks.org, www.perlmonks.org, perlmonks.com) always gives me the content directly. This produces duplicate content from the perspective of Google (see https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/66359?hl=en) and gets a penalty. IMHO it would be better to have a canonical hostname and redirect all other hostnames to the URL with the canonical one. Another solution is to present the so called canonical tag (see https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/139066#2). I'm pretty sure, it's not the first time, that someone is mentioning that, is it? The goal is clear: Push the ranking for PerlMonks' content. Best regards
