Re: what are the rules regarding homenode image, what is inappropriate? (troll)

Yawn...
Without giving a concrete case you are trying to provoke the admins here to express some theoretical "laws", only to start afterwards a lengthy dispute about them.
You did this already many times in the past, and this troll pattern is getting more and more boring, since nobody falls into the trap anymore.
Maybe it didn't occur to you but AnoMonks like you have no user image.
So why not discuss the scandalous inequalities of agricultural promotion in a future moon colony? :)

Hummm. I suspect that if you have a question about the appropriateness, it maybe isn't appropriate.
On the other hand, it seems that these days almost anything will be objectionable to someone. (I suspect that if I were to post a image of a blank piece of paper, I'd get flack about it.)
I suppose that the only way to test the appropriateness is to post the image and see who salutes. Or throws tomatoes.

A reason for discouraging inappropriate user images is avoiding legal jeopardy. At least in the U.S., being explicit about what is allowed or not allowed can be a way to increase legal jeopardy. If I were a policy maker, I would duck this question.

As most of us don’t live in religious oligarchies but secular states which protect all but threatening or libelous/slanderous (when non-satirical) speech, it’s acceptable. Good taste is another matter all together.
GOOD TASTE IS ANOTHER MATTER.
What’s the matter, don’t you get it? :P

Let's keep the choice absolutely free. I'm not sure about that because How do I use the power of consideration responsibly? PerlMonks is meant to be family friendly. And perhaps more importantly, we'd like to keep PerlMonks off of corporate blacklists which would prevent worthy monks from participating while at work.
I don't know how blacklist makers make use of image recognition, and for now it appears less likely that highly offensive images would be tagged/flagged , but the choice appears to be not "absolutely free" already

PerlMonks is meant to be family friendly
- is that so?
- more so than e.g. Wikipedia?
- if so, then what does this mean/imply?

Go to hell. I am disgusted that someone should try to talk about this subject unknown, anonymously.
Let's keep the choice absolutely free.
Edit: struck 'abusiveness' in view of apparent sensitivities. I actually have to guess as to which part would be 'abusive'. It wasn't abuse, of course. It was a way on my part to make clear that a dialogue on this subject with a void persona is not possible.
In short, I think it's OK that that got -12 downvotes but what reflects badly on the monks is that it actually garnered any reap-votes. Getting a bit too sensitive, aren't we? So I really hope those reap-votes were directed at me personally and not about the subject or, even worse, about the wording.

I simply can not imagine what such a document might look like or say. If it feels risky, it probably is. Maybe asking forgiveness is better than seeking permission in this case? Live large...take a risk..., but be nice. Have a great day!
...the majority is always wrong, and always the last to know about it...
A solution is nothing more than a clearly stated problem...
