in thread Rolling variable

If he just needed a file count every hour and only keep the last 8 hours worth of file counts on any specific directory, he sure had a heck of a way of explaining it ;0

Your right I completely misunderstood what he was asking and offered a irrelevant solution to his problem.
Best reguards.

You've been around a little while, you should know that many people who come here that know only enough about Perl to be dangerous don't understand what they're asking, so we often have to do our best to interpret.

Don't take it personally. Even the most abrasive Monks of old weren't criticizing another Monk for posting a possible solution that didn't fit (for the most part); they were simply informing them of newer/more efficient/better or different ways of doing something.

This site is, and always has been about education. Learning new ways to do things we have gotten used to, and picking up new things we've never heard of.

    Cheers,

Oh, I know m8, I was only taking it like that because I still thought i was right ;) when I see that I am indeed wrong, I will admit it no problem. Hopefully the OP has taken the wealth of knowledge that is before him now :)
Nothing has been taken personal and I still have the upmost respect for fishmonger and you and everyone else that has posted in this thread. You all have what seems like a never ending knowledge in Perl, and it is also easier for yall to spot the real question in obfuscated words ;) I didnt make it to far in english class anyway haha. Best reguards, James28909
