updateLook Emacs and Perl try heavily to be platform independend. There is no reason to have a dependency on man, nroff, sed and awk. Anyway there is plenty of legacy code depending on man, and eLisp should be flexible enough to use woman instead. (If I had the time I'd produce a pod2info converter)
