Programming Perl is a definite improvement over Learning Perl - Learning Perl went a little too fast for me. Perl Cookbook definitely cleared up lingering confusion.
Other suggestions:
MacPerl: Power and Ease, V. Brown and C. Nandor
Learning Perl on Win 32 Systems, R. Schwartz, E. Olson, T. Christiansen
The Perl Journal - My subscription to this is repaid many times over.
Getting and looking at other folk's code, no matter how bad - its invaluable.
The dummies books are will'o the wisps on the path to enlightenment.

Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
<code> <a> <b> <big>
<blockquote> <br /> <dd>
<dl> <dt> <em> <font>
<h1> <h2> <h3> <h4>
<h5> <h6> <hr /> <i>
<li> <nbsp> <ol> <p>
<small> <strike> <strong>
  <table>
<td> <th> <tr> <tt>
<u> <ul>
-
Snippets of code should be wrapped in
<code> tags not
<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
