Sadly I have found my nodes which are more popular with other monks are poems or humurous replies to polls. My actual posts on Perl do get up-voted but not as much. (I have yet to have a node with zero or negative votes so thanks for being so kind!)

So my XP mostly comes from voting on other's nodes, logging in, and being silly.........is this a bad thing?

Mostly, because only lower levels get that bonus, see Levels of Monks.

Seems you have too much XP already. Downvoting enough posts may be able to fix that ;-)

Actually i don't really know where my XP comes from.

The XP nodelet occasionally informs me that I have gained or lost XP, but doesn't say why. Sometimes these messages appear directly after I cast votes, but correlation does not necessarily imply causation.

I also monitor my node's reputation on the "Nodes you wrote" page, but the correspondence between node reputation and XP is non-trivial and even time dependent.

That would be XP from your posts then. Especially the negative xp.

Most of your experience comes from folks like me, who have learned that when Moritz posts something, I vote for it. It's amazing how much stuff I've learned from topnotch PM contributors such as yourself...SO thanks! (and yes, I voted for your post above. Buwahahaha!)
