Chatting about C songs on CB suddenly gave me an idea to write a Perl song... about new Perl releases. I couldn't find better words to complete the first line, any suggestions welcome!

Perl! I love the colorful syntax you have And the way ..... Ah! I hear the sound of a gentle word On the wind that sends some rumour through the air
Perl! I love the colorful syntax you bear And the way you use ne eq cmp to compare... Ah! I hear the sound of an apocalypse Larry's getting slashdotted and the server's on a tear {Refrain} I'm pickin' up new releases, It's givin' me the excitations, I'm pickin' up good releases, (Ooo, bop-bop, good releases) It's givin' me the excitations (Bop-bop, excitations) (New, new, new, new releases) I'm pickin' up new releases, (Ooo, bop-bop, good releases) It's givin' me the excitation (Bop-bop, excitations) (Good, good, good, good releases) I'm pickin' up new releases (Ooo, bop-bop, new releases) It's givin' me the excitations (Bop-bop, excitations) Close my eyes; solution's somehow closer now Untested but I know it must be fine When -- I read the new Perl release notes It goes with me to a brand new world {Refrain} I don't know where, but Perl sends me there (Oh, my my love sensation) (Oh, my my heart elation) Gotta keep those lovin' new releases a-happenin' with Perl x3 Ohh! (New, new, new, new releases) I'm pickin' up new releases (Ooo, bop-bop, new releases) It's givin' me the excitation (Bop-bop, excitations) (Good, good, good, good releases) I'm pickin' up good releases (Ooo, bop-bop, good releases) Na na-na na-na na-na-na x4

Update: plugged in zeno's suggestion and completed the lyric.

For the first two stanzas, how about:
Perl! I love the colorful syntax you bear And the way you use ne eq cmp to compare... Ah! I hear the sound of an apocalypse Larry's getting slashdotted and the server's on a tear
(those comparison operators have to be pronounced, not spelled, for this to scan). -- Zeno - Barcelona Perl Mongers http://barcelona.pm.org http://www.javajunkies.org
Thanks I like your suggestion. Especially the second bit. ++ to you sir! ;-)
