Perl Monks turns 5

5 years ago today, Perl Monks opened its doors for the first time. yiango and BBQ were among the first to wander in.

Thanks to everyone who has helped make Perl Monks a useful, helpful, and welcoming resource to this day.

What about paco? According to his homenode, he predates Perl Monks by almost 2 months!? How does that work? He even predates you! Using the Node Navigator Nodelet, I actually find there are a few such monks... what's the secret? -- edan	[reply]

Happy birthday to Perl Monks and congratulations to you for everything you've done here. I can't thank you enough (heck, I would likely not have the career I've had were it not for this site.) Happy Birthday to the Monastary! I was worried when I noticed the "Perl Monk5" moniker this morning. I thought we were forking into Perl Monk5 and Perl Monk6 for the respective versions of Perl... 5 years ago today, Perl Monks opened its doors for the first time. And about three years ago I read a Damin Conway interview in the pair Networks support newsletter and said to myself, "A Perl resource on the net? Great idea! Join immediately!" It's been great fun, and I've learned an enormous amount. Thanks to everyone who has helped make Perl Monks a useful, helpful, and welcoming resource to this day. Yeah. Thanks a million everyone. I've been here for little over a year, and can honestly say I've more then tripled my knowledge of perl because of this site, and I meet alot of really interesting and fun people :).
