I was about to register as a new user, but much to my dismay I found that my standard username, Monolith, was already taken. Curious to learn who the person was, I went to their homenode and found that the user account was completely unused. I'm wondering if that account may ever be deleted so that I can use it.

I think that if this feature ever does get implemented, it should be turned off for Monks above a certain level. For example, if BBQ goes away for a while and can't get to a computer or is too busy, his account should not be deleted because he is a proven member of the community.

I was thinking more along the lines of folks who have never logged in. According to jcwren's stats, there are almost 1000 users who have never logged in! Imagine the MySQL clutter! I don't think it would be fair to "require" newer users to be logged in at least every three months, though.

Or to simply recycle accounts that have been registered, but not logged in within the first 30 days. I'd be in favor of that.

The above two posts sound good to me.

This has been recommended before: something like 3 months never logged in gets deleted. Unfortunately, no matter how much we wish for this, this has not been implemented by the all-knowing. Sorry.

This is a really good idea, and I think there are a few more things that could be added also. Such as changing your name and deleting your name. I know that I won't want to be punkkid forever, I like my name, but when I'm older I won't want to refer to myself as a kid. This also would need some limits though, so people aren't doing it all the time. Allowing name changes would probably lower the number of new monks to because people wouldn't need too create new accounts. Deleting your name for those who make an account, use it for a while, and then just leave, but those are just my thoughts.
