Some arguments against using GNU/Linux and maddog's counter-arguments seem similar to those related to Perl. Just one example from the article: "Most of the reasons why people think they can not use Free and Open Source Software, and particularly GNU/Linux, is that they are thinking about the GNU/Linux of fifteen years ago, and not the GNU/Linux of today."
