First computer - an IBM 360/50 (in 1968, the state of the art) at RPI.
1983 - First UNIX, Amdahl UTS (Unix Time Share) running under CMS in 3270 mode.
3270's were block oriented terminals so whenever anything was sent to
STDERR you got a screen refresh for every character.
First standalone UNIX computer - an NCR Tower 600 (Motorola 68000, 16 meg of memory, 100 meg hard drive. We later upgraded to a Tower 700 (68020, 32 meg memory, 200 meg hard drive). Almost 30 years later, still working in UNIX (Linux),
doing ETL at a bank where Perl is an integral tool.
