    To be more precise: a zombie prozess is a terminated process which exists in the process table only because its parent has not collected this childs exit status (via wait(2)). If the parent exits, all its zombies disappear.

      If the parent exits, its zombies are re-parented to process 1 (init), which performs the reap. This behavior is described in wait(2).
