To be more precise: a zombie prozess is a terminated process which exists in the process table only because its parent has not collected this childs exit status (via `wait(2)`). If the parent exits, all its zombies disappear. perl -le'print map{pack c,($-++?1:13)+ord}split//,ESEL'	[reply] [d/l]

If the parent exits, its zombies are re-parented to process 1 (init), which performs the reap. This behavior is described in wait(2).	[reply]
