Area for personal projects postings

Greetings Fellow Monks,
I am curious if there is a place meant to post perl projects that are pretty neat but don't qualify for cool uses but useful uses. I understand that letting people post 1000's of lines of code that only does one thing on one box with certain limitations could get crazy, but i think others might be motivated and impressed with some neat little projects I have written in perl that are useful but not entirely cool. Just curious if this is what the scratch pad is for or maybe you might make yet another area.
Thanks,
Enigmae

    I'm not an expert, but Craft and Code Catacombs seem to be what you are looking for...

    Ciao, Valerio

      What do people feel is the proper place to discuss projects they are undertaking? Meditations?

        meditations++

        Obviously, I think that meditations is the proper place for such discussion (though my 'discussion' is usually less code and more catharsis).

        YMMV -depending on what you are discussing, what your need/goal is with the post, etc each should be posted appropriately. For instance, I'm currently working on a large code base for parsing the Big Three automotive supplier websites (cf. this ). I am maintaining the old code while concurrently moving it to OO as it was originially written in 'One off' style as each site was originally perceived as unrelated, and there was immediate need for data. As I have worked with the data and the sites themselves, certain methods and data types have shown themselves to be redundant, and a relative object model is beginning to arise.

        If I were to begin to post about it, my frustrations, development ideas and SNAFUs with it would go in meditations, functional code would find itself in snippets or the catacombs and problems typed in a panic to SOPW.

        Everything in it's place, I suppose

        C-.

    I think the others have pretty well summarized my understanding of the various sections in the Monastery (though don't forget to check the official guidebook). If you're still trying to figure out where to put something, you might consider another alternative (besides Freshmeat and so on)...namely, the private areas hosted by the God of Local Statistics. For details, check his home node.
