I don't have a problem that your opinion is negative or that you expressed it. I think the personal attacks were unwarranted. Or at least, without showing the slightest amount of consideration first. You could have addressed this in other ways with most likely the same result, minus the personal attacks. If that didn't work, then $flame->on().
I respect your work and posts. I find them informative and helpful to the community, but when I read this to be totally honest I thought , "Juerd's being a dick." Now if I had simply replied "You're being a dick.", what would this have accomplished? Instead, I took a few moments to explain what I percieve as problems with your post, showed a little consideration in the wording and what we've got is discussion, which certainly has to be better than getting into a flame war. There's a difference between hiding negative feelings and expressing them in a productive manner. I prefer the later here. In my car, where I only have a limited window of opportunity to critique my fellow drivers short-comings then terse and to the point is the way to go "Get off the phone A**hole!", but at the Monestary (and the Perl community at large) I see no need to skip directly to step 2. Just my 2 cents. -Lee "To be civilized is to deny one's nature."
