I was born happily on 1981.

I first laid my hand on the keyboard of an IBM-PC/XT arround 1989. Learned GW-Basic. Loved it. Over the years moved to QuickBasic, VisualBasic, C++. I was forced to learn Pascal in school.

When I finished school I got a job where I learned Java.

Joined the army, got injured, left the army.

Started learning perl because of a job opportunity. Loved it. Now I programm applications for my family's home network - in perl of course.

That's it. Well, I'm not David Copperfield, you know... :)

Incidentally, I also maintain a couple of perl modules:

Unfortunately I don't have much time for it now that I'm studying for a degree in machine engineering...

[ambrus]: Today I accidentally cut my hand while carrying a computer. On the display part of the motherboard that sticks out at the back of the chasis and has ports, there's this thin metal sheet with holes cut for the ports, to guide plugs into the sockets.
[ambrus]: This sheet has sharp needle-like parts, 0.004 long and less than 0.001 wide, that can get bent to point outwards, and one of these cut into my palm when I lifted the box.
[ambrus]: So now when I choose what motherboard to buy for my new home computer, I have one more specific property to guide me. Useful, because there's so many different boards to choose from.
