In fact, I try not to since it makes it harder to see room for improvement. Only yesterday I noticed that a parser I'd written and which took about a page of Java code (yeah, right, the evil empire ;-) could actually reduced to something like 10 lines. The parser is a piece of code I wasn't especially proud of, but it did a good job. Had I been very proud of it, I might not have questioned the code and seen the shortcut. Just my 2 cents, -gjb-
