The NodeReaper is now in place. Look at his homenode to learn more about his interests.
Basically his job is to delete all of those bottom of the barrel kinds of nodes. Since the NodeReaper doesn't have much control over his own node-killing tendencies, he relies on the communities judgment for the nodes that he kills. In order for a node to be reaped it needs to have a negative reputation, 5 delete votes from the nodes to consider page and 2 or less keep votes. Once node reaping occurs the questionable node becomes the NodeReaper's. He places a link to a location where you can visit the old node and the reason it was considered for deletion if one was provided. He also /msg's the owner of the node telling them what has occurred. Nodes without any replies are just plain deleted when they reach the criteria specified above.

Good idea, that would help in case someone double posts - they just clear out the duplicate and our friend (I hope) the NodeReaper comes around.

"...doo dee doo, smelling flowers, looking at the monks, hey cabbages, doo dee doo. Wait, an empty node! Who left that lying around. Time to clean up the litter. {REAP} Ok. Doo dee doo. More cabbages..."

Ok, maybe I'm personifying the NodeReaper too much. Maybe I expect it in the next episode of Life at the Monastery. Chapter 1.

Ok, I just took a look at NodeReaper's home node. Got a good chuckle on the personal info. I thought the "-6" writeups was a classic. But how the heck does the our little Nodie gain XP? Right now he's got 46 more then DiscoStu, though that's not entirely his fault.

You can vote for (or against) the "deleted" nodes that the node reaper owns. Not sure why anyone would, but I'd be surprised if such votes don't affect the XP of the reaper.

Good point. But the reaper has POSITIVE XP. Hmm. Maybe people are voting ++ on the fact it's been reaped.

Hey, if the reaper got XP depending on the rep of the node. Ya know, a -18 rep node would get it 18 XP (or 18 chances for XP, just like everyone else). Then we'd see who could advance quicker - a good monk or all the bad monks together. 8) That'll even give merlyn a run for his money.
