in reply to whats the Video encoders/converter

(wtf does this have to do with perl?!)

This is what you should use on windows64bit: Microsoft Expression Encoder 3 SDK, if you want a module/library to code with.

Here is some video software that will work for you as well, if you're using windows vista: video software for windows vista

Here's another list with reviews

Also consider adobe premiere, that should let you turn videos into different formats/etc.

    leocharre,
I agreed with you about no perl content so I sent a private /msg to ahmad who approved the node to indicate that it was being considered for having no perl content. I was instructed to re-read the node because the problem was about difficulty installing the perl module. I was quite sure ahmad was wrong but I went out on CPAN and searched for ffmpeg and what do you know, FFmpeg turned up. Now I still maintain that this was a poorly worded question and should have been something along the lines of:

I can't seem to get FFmpeg to install on 64 bit windows. Does anyone know how to do that or can suggest a different module that will work? I would prefer ffmpeg but would be happy with any encoder at this point.

I can very much understand why it was considered but thanks to ahmad, after re-reading it (3 times) and searching myself I am now convinced this actually is on-topic.

    Cheers - L~R

You can run any of them from perl, so best would depend on each programs features, not perl.

so it doesn't matter what encoder i use. they all work exactly the same? there's gotta be prefence. theres gotta be one that works best with perl.
