Caring about our respective (grammatically speaking) opinions and caring about votes are two separate things. Just because they are often related does not mean they are always related. I do not see any disconnect. If he really cared about votes, he would post anonymously. Instead, he posts as himself, taking the hit.

The article was actually somewhat interesting and it reminded me of a commercial site I used to frequent that switched forums. In the new one, for those of us with beta access, instead of nicknames, our real names were displayed. It was a bit disconcerting, but it was also interesting to note how much more civil people were. Of course, nicknames were implemented before it went life, with the expected results.

And yeah, this crusade is wearing thin. But as per Do Not Feed the Trolls!!! and "They've got a cave troll!" you guys are in-effect enablers at this point. So, can you do it? Can you, LanX, et. al. actually ignore his next crusade post?? Hmm?

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
  • Want more info? How to link or How to display code and escape characters are good places to start.
