( [id://3333]=superdoc: print w/replies, xml ) Need Help??
Greetings all, I come seeking advice.

I have some software, that I've put quite a bit of effort into. Something that I feel would make a good addition to CPAN. In a way, it is reinventing the wheel, but this wheel fits a slightly different kind of vehicle, and was built with different features. There are other sets of modules on CPAN that is similar to what I've been working on. However, I feel that my software fits a slightly different niche. I released a bit of it at node Seen.pm. That code has been ditched in favor of a more practical solution with Cache::FileCache, but you get the idea.

My question to you is, with knowledge of existing software fitting a similar goal, do I release it anyhow? I've never been in this kinda situation, and am looking for advice.

A conclusion is simply the place where someone got tired of thinking.

Title:
Use:  <p> text here (a paragraph) </p>
and:  <code> code here </code>
to format your post; it's "PerlMonks-approved HTML":

  • Are you posting in the right place? Check out Where do I post X? to know for sure.
  • Posts may use any of the Perl Monks Approved HTML tags. Currently these include the following:
    <code> <a> <b> <big> <blockquote> <br /> <dd> <dl> <dt> <em> <font> <h1> <h2> <h3> <h4> <h5> <h6> <hr /> <i> <li> <nbsp> <ol> <p> <small> <strike> <strong> <table> <td> <th> <tr> <tt> <u> <ul>
  • Snippets of code should be wrapped in <code> tags not <pre> tags. In fact, <pre> tags should generally be avoided. If they must be used, extreme care should be taken to ensure that their contents do not have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor intervention).
