The discussion isn't about Unicode, it's about reverse. reverse doesn't perform a Unicode operation.
Until you can make a compelling case
So it doesn't break this code. Not everyone limits themselves to using strings as you do. I'm sorry that I'm failing to make you see that, but I'm at wits end.

<pre> tags. In fact, <pre>
tags should generally be avoided. If they must
be used, extreme care should be
taken to ensure that their contents do not
have long lines (<70 chars), in order to prevent
horizontal scrolling (and possible janitor
intervention).
