Far and away one of the best one-liner poll responses I have seen. I hope you got something good for it:
      1. Unless you are really A-rod or Jeter, I doubt it was something ala Damn Yankees
      2. Still working on those 7 wishes? (Bedazzled: the original, of course)
      3. Are you now a great guitar player? Oh Brother Where Art Thou? - search for Satan
      4. Or perhaps it was the most obvious reason, XP. However, since I notice you are still a pilgrim, you apparently sold out cheap :)

I have no idea who A-rod and Jeter are. I'm glad someone liked the Robert Johnson reference :)

I have a sugar momma. My wife supports me in the style to which I have become accustomed (in return for my doing the dishes, cleaning the house, etc.)

IOW, Bear Stearns chewed me up and shat me out...

Where is the "I don't spend very much time here at all." option?

Or the "This is the first time I've ever been to PerlMonks -- what are all of you crazy people talking about?" option?

They're missing because this poll is strictly for monks who drink the kool-aid... :P

This isn't a jobs site, so I won't beg for work.

But this could be a hint about how I voted.

zentara, I am a little mystified by your question. Given your (mostly :)) lucid posts, you have missed the clear syllogistic conclusion:
      1. Albert Einstein clearly explained time, via special relativity.
      2. As Benjamin Franklin said "Time is Money"
      3. 1 Tim 6:10 clearly states that "The love of money is the root of all evil"(actually, the greek can actually be read "...the root of all sorts of evil")
      4. Therefore, "Einstein is the root of all evil" QED (you can get him off the hook a little bit by using the latter tranlation of 1 Tim 6:10)

Your apparent lapse in logical capability can easily be attributed to the facts that

      1. You are certainly an example of the population the poll describes
      2. You have actually read too many of the "How can I do <blah<blah> with an RE?

      fnord

I'm glad you have it figured out. :-) But I must say none of of the references you cite mean anything to me....Einstein is obsolete, Franklin was a Devil worshipper, I don't give a hoot about the modern bible. My apparent lapse in logical capability can be attributed to my non-logical abilities while in a theta wave state........ i.e. zen :-)

I hope you code better than you do logical proofs...
        1. That Einstein explained time does not make him "time" itself.
        2. I will accept the equivalency though it is unproven.
        3. That "love of money" is the root of something does not make money itself the root of something.

        4. If a = b and d (being "the love of b") is the root of c, that does not in any way show a relationship between e (the person who describes a) and d.

The reason to spend time here specifically is because
    • Perl helps me to earn money.
    • Perlmonks enhances the depth of view of the concepts I have learnt in Perl
    • I am experiencing the term 'there is more than a way to do it' in the posts of perlmonks
    • Perlmonks.org helps me to stay in touch with authors of best perl books and other intelligent monks, if I visit/contribute/share something here it extends the life of my Perl knowledge

I voted "...and I'm an addict", and I am.

I've always liked playing with code, to look into little logic and math problems that catch my fancy. Perl was very easy to get into, and has been extended in so many directions, I've hardly lacked for a solution just waiting for me to find it.

Then of course, I started using it in my $work; and soon it became critical. I've been waiting 3 years at my $position=q/current/; for our $Software_Group; to automate some database stuffing/munging, and they just keep refactoring everything after delivering the same functionality again. I've lost track of how many languages they've used. Every new summer intern brings along some new language and starts coding in it. Whe s/he leaves, as soon as it needs updating, it's trashed. (Students have so little respect for their peers' coding skills, but sometimes such disrespect is earned.)

So I get stuff done, other folks borrow some of my tools and get a lot done, still others wonder how it's done, and anyone left over doesn't even know what's going with their data, because they never see it. Funny thing is,

    our @Group_Goals; push @Group_Goals, qq/No Scripting!/; sleep 3; say qq/WTF?!/;

Now push @Company_Wide_Software_Organization, $Software_Group; so their responsiveness has declined, while their paperwork and meeting overhead has increased. I think they have to login on Saturdays just to play with code.
