    Pay the photographer the fee they want. No need for Image::Magick.

    That does rather depend on what you intend to use as the replacement. If there were no replacement and you remove part of the image, there would just be a gaping hole in the image which is unlikely to be what you want (although possible, I suppose). So after you "remove" this watermark, what do you want to use as the replacement?
