No details have been hammered out yet but we're gonna give Thursday Night a go. Follow this thread religiously for more details or stop by the booth Thursday and get the low down.

tilly thought a cheap diner might be a good meeting spot. Neither tilly nor I know of such a place near the convention center as of yet. My thought would be meeting at the convention near closing time and then heading to dinner after that might be our best bet. If we don't all hate each other too much maybe we can continue the party somewhere else afterwards.

If you're gonna be there on another day and would like to meet some fellow monks propose a meeting time at the booth for the day you'll be there below.

Thoughts on the matter, actual locations for this get together??? Let us know below.

Update:Katz's Deli, is what we're gonna go with. Swing by the booth today to let me know if you're in. I suggest people stop by the booth around 5:45 if you want to head over there with a group. Otherwise meet us there between 6:30 and 7.

Waaah! Being so near NYC I cannot make it to the expo! (wailing like a baby that I'm holding in the hands ;) Though.. for the get together there's still a chance.

I won't be at LWCE, but I just wanted to offer a suggestion, based on experience. It will be much easier if you are able to choose a restaurant beforehand.

After the Geek Pride Festival in Boston last year, a big group of people tried to find somewhere to have dinner. After walking more or less in circles for half an hour (as different people tried to lead), the group splintered and the subgroups all went to different places.

Failing any specific suggestions, I will bring a Zaggat guide by the PerlMonks booth in the early afternoon on Wed, and we can somewhat randomly choose from there. Are there objections to choosing something well away from the Convention Center? (I think there is a better selection in the Village...)

People who think that they can show for Thursday at the dinner but won't the show should drop me or vroom a message with contact info so we know to keep you up to date on plans, etc.

the convention center is sort of isolated. There aren't many good places right near it, especially if we're expecting more than 10 or so. How many do you think will show? How far are we willing to stray from the center? 10 blocks? 20?

    I see three requirements:

Furthermore, tilly suggested a diner. I propose Katz's Deli, In the Lower East Side. We can walk to the A-C-E, then catch the F from that.
