i found articles stating this but they date back to 2001 ......isn't there any module in perl that i can use for this purpose...

FWIW, you can use wine on linux to run ActivePerl with Win32::OLE to automate Excel .... but you'll need wine/excel installed of course :) OTOH, Re^5: Converting doc to txt without WIN32::OLE says OpenOffice::UNO or unoconv - Convert between any document format supported by LibreOffice/OpenOffice. i am having my site running on unix but as wine creates its own environment, do i need to shift my whole site on wine environment...?	[reply]

Hello: I am extracting data based on a condition from Excel file, and writing the data into a new Excel file. The data gets written to the new file, but I get blanks in the new file for the data that does not meet the condition. How do I write the data to the new file without picking up the blanks? Thanks...
