I think that the Prague.pm node is a good idea. (Finding fellow Perl monks in your neighborhood.)

I would do it myself, for my own local area, if it wasn't for the risk to see n threads doing the same thing, possibly temporarily swamping the monastery with these threads (which would be a bad thing).

Maybe it would be worthwhile to setup some kind of (geographically) local area in the monastery?

Agreed, many of us may hesitate to give up his/her geographical location, but this would of course be an opt-in activity.

Personally, I'd very much appreciate to go out for a beer (or two?) with any monks (or other level participants) from my neighborhood.

    Perhaps you should be looking at the Perl Mongers web page to find groups in your area. Given that PerlMonks and Perl Mongers are both now part of YAS, it seems a little pointless for both organisations to do the same thing.

    Check out the Perl Monks Statistic Page.

    A lot of monks have special tags on their homenodes. One of them is a location tag, which is used by jcwren to create a map and the 'nearest monk' statistics.

      I fail to enter these tags in my home node. Stumbit silently ignores anything I enter in my bio.

      Do I have to be at a certain level to do this?
      Any RTFM for me?

    The above suggestions are good, but they miss the larger point. I think we should have a new section for perl monks community stuff. Our current sections (Meditations => Perl stuff, Discussions => Perlmonks stuff) don't allow much room for this. A community section would cover a lot of things that are relevant to the members (Community => Monks stuff), but are considered OT in the other sections.
