Yeah, but AM and PM stand for something. It's Boolean in nature somehow. We, if we worked on a project, could agree on something. $this->{isPm} is easy

Except at noon and midnight. noon is neither before or after noon, and midnight is equally before and after, breaking the boolean AM/PM you believe exists.
I forgot to add: This is why I despise our digital clocks which insist that noon is PM because 12:01 is, and that midnight is somehow AM because 12:01 in the morning is. It creates a nice artificial symmetry, but is illogical to call 12:00 "noon after noon". Actually, that probably makes it a good example for the author's contention, as our need to force times into the AM/PM system creates an absolutely absurd designation of something being after itself.

If 12:01 is PM; then 12:00:01 is also. And so is, 12:00:00.000000000000000000000001 That is, 1 yocto-second (or 1 septillionth) after..

So, what you are getting your knickers in a twist about is a point in time which even if we had the equipment to measure it, and the basis for deciding when it actually occurs, your brain is way to slow to register it.

Wanna talk some more about absurd :)
