Does that mean we simply should use 1970s software?
If the solutions work, why not? Just because its old doesnt necessarily mean its bad, of course it doesnt mean its good, it just means if the shoe fits, wear it.

    Do you particularly like coding in PL/I, COBOL, Pascal and Prolog?

    Generally most "modern" languages accomplish what those older languages could. Just the "modern" languages look prettier.
