RE: It takes me this long to get to workschool

women weep, dogs bark, children herd the goats. The oxen lurch and the caravan finally lumbers forward. Also known as a British Rail train. Two hours each way on a good day!

I'm on campus, so it takes me a couple minutes to get to class. Fun fun fun, college. Yay.

Lucky me -- I actually DO live at work. Home office. I get to play with perl all day from the comfort of my home. ;)

turnstep: but don't you miss all of the annoying people? :)
Annoying people? I just soak up some (unmoderated) discussions in slashdot if I need any of those! :) Seriously, I do miss a few things, but overall, working from home is much, much better.
Bug in the voting code?

Strangely, when I submitted my vote it took me to the user search page, so I'm not sure it was actually counted.
Well, with 53 votes it should not be too hard to figure out if you did. (It's 53 as of this writing, and was 50 yesterday (IIRC)). Which brings up another question: is there any mechanism to prevent ballot-stuffing? e.g. a IP check. Not that this poll couldn't *use* some ballot stuffing... :)

Like the above, work and home are the same place. One of the choices should reflect that! I miss the T1 of my previous job, but overall working at home is great!

I must say, it's absolutely ridiculous trying to drive through peak traffic. It usually takes me anywhere from 25 minutes to over an hour to get to Uni.
That was me, by the way. ---------------- "Reality is simply an illusion caused by a lack of drugs."

A few years back I worked (at an ISP) during the week in one town and lived in another at weekends.

I didn't have a place to stay in the town-were-I-worked so dossed on the floor.

Its amazing how into USENET + mudding you can get in these circumstances :-)

I don't recommend it as a lifestyle, but as a psycological experiment its pretty interesting.

My SO had a 3 hour commute a few years ago. We moved. Now it's an hour and 15 minutes driving, or closer to an hour and 3/4 with public transport--on a good day. Tuesday it took 2 and a half hours. :( Time to move again.
