Yeah, really. The first thing a "dipshit manager" is going to do is look up perlmonks, and dismiss a language based on the appearance. You are missing the whole point, appearances count. And in some cases only appearances count. Do you think everybody takes the pain to do full analysis of stuff before they use? Most stuff gets used because everybody else is using it, its famous and looks good.

    So, what is it? Appearance, or usage by others?
      Will you use and advocate something new to others if it looks ugly and is slow? And there is a overall negative mood about it all around?
        I think you mean "Will my decision to advocate something be based on the appearance (but not content) of a fansite"? That answer is no.

        If you are offered a company car, and your choices are between a Ferrari and a Lada, would you pick the Lada because on your way to the office, you saw a dirty, dented, pale-pink Ferrari?

        Now, I may recommend people not going to Perlmonks if it started using red coloured Comic Sans fonts on a bright green background, with all the headers blinking, but even then I'm not recommending against Perl.

        Perlmonks != Perl.
