Thanks for the reply. The weird thing, is that FF *is* in utf-8 for the encoding... if I change to iso-8859-1 then it double encodes :/

I'm just uploading a fresh copy of phpmyadmin to see if that helps

    No, I don't mean you are double encoding.

    When I see *this page*, my firefox says it is Windows-1252 encoding. It is in View menu -> Character Encoding -> Checked encoding in the list. IE has same kind of option

    So, what does your browser think it's encoding when you see your troubled phpmyadmin page? Doesn't she think it is iso-8859-1 even thought it is UTF-8?
