in reply to Perl Application Platform

I have never been able to get to grips with access and, any time I have had to do something in access I tend to give up and write the thing in perl, using DBI::ODBC. Personally, this sounds like a great idea.

I'm just trying to make sure. That last statement. were you being sarcastic?

I always wanted to be somebody... I guess I should have been more specific.

No sarcasm, for once ;) Seriously, I find the access interface almost impossible to work with. I dont know why as I can use other MS products... it just seems to be me.

For the record, I find putting together a database in MySQL or PostgreSQL (with or without help from Perl) at least an order of magnitude harder than in Access. I've never done anything big, ten tables (some with a few thousand rows), twenty queries, ten reports (with subreports), etc., is about it. But I can usually be up and running with custom input forms and pretty reports in a few hours.

Much as I don't like M$, I had to jump in to defend Access, it's served me well.
