Italian? Couldn't find a proof for that on the page you mentioned. Instead i found:

So not necessarily America, but also (e.g.) England. But to my knowledge Italy is not anglo-saxon ;-)

    What you say is true but doesn't contraddict his biography :) I was talking about history, you were talking about legends; you will find the whole story in the italian version of that page.

    I didn't say it's not an italian history. But the tradition was spread by anglo-saxon people. So it's their merit of making world-wide known. I'm not interested in the history, I just blame the commercial factor anglo-saxon gave to it.
