Perhaps what you keep forgetting is that what you're reading &lt;i&gt;is&lt;/i&gt; the changes.  The core of the language, that you have come to appreciate is still there.  You'll still get an autovivified hash five levels deep from a three line diamond-split-assign-plus-equals loop.  Really.  Don't get hung up on the differences.  The core is still there.  Life is still good.
