I started off with BASIC on a TRS-80 and assembler on an IBM-PC back in the early 1980's. I then learned FORTRAN on a punchcard reading IBM mainframe as an undergrad and progressed on to C, perl and bits of Objective C after buying a NeXT in the early 1990's (thus the 'next' part of my moniker).
