Even better, &lt;em&gt;prepend&lt;/em&gt; the path to your favorite perl to &lt;c&gt;$PATH&lt;/c&gt;, so it will be found before any others in your path.

sh$ which perl
/usr/bin/perl
sh$ PATH=/home/me/bin:/bin:/usr/bin
