WPERL: The Perl radio station

by petdance (Parson)
on Jul 09, 2001 at 20:22 UTC ( #95029=poem: print w/ replies, xml ) Need Help??

I love music, and I spend a lot of time listening to WPERL, the Perl radio station. (Usually I listen to it when I'm going to The Perl Film Festival)

Here are some of the artists that are played on WPERL:

=head1 Radio use Cache::Cache; my $johnny = new Cache; my $june_carter = new Cache; my $roseanne = new Cache; /night/../r/
And some of my favorite songs
speak() if 0; (by undef $doubt;) print '<font color="#000000">Back</font>'; $drink{$_} = 1 for ( qw( bourbon scotch beer ) ); my $greatest = undef; for ( @love ) { $greatest = $_ if $_ > $greatest; } print $greatest;
Has anyone else listened to WPERL?
Highlight below for answers:
Artists:
Radiohead
Johnny Cash, June Carter Cash, Roseanne Cash
Night Ranger

Songs:
"Don't Speak" by No Doubt
"Back In Black"
"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer"
"The Greatest Love Of All"

xoxo,
Andy

    dang you japhy!! you took all the good ones, not that I could have been as creative...here's one I've been listening to a lot lately (not as good as everyone elses, but I had to try)

    @nums = (1...50); print (join (" and ", @nums[45, 1]));

    Answer: (forty six and two by Tool)

    I do hope WPERL plays old blues tune like:

    my @trail =('hellhound','hellhound'); package vain; use vars qw($love @love %love); $night = 'dark'; undef $night; my $bad_sign; $born++; my $broom = new Blues; $broom->dust(); package Y; use 5.6; our $funeral; my $trial;

    and other stuff like:

    @stuff = ('jams', 'hams', 'rams'); shift @stuff;

    Solutions:

    • Hellounds on my trail (R. Johnson)
    • All my love in vain (R. Johnson)
    • Dark was the night (Blind Willie Johnson)
    • Dust my broom (R. Johnson)
    • (Y::)our funeral my trial (Sonny Boy Williamson)
    • Kick out the Jams (MC5)
    <kbd>--
    my $OeufMayo = new PerlMonger::Paris({http => 'paris.mongueurs.net'});</kbd>
I can't remember anything

    Oooh, I forgot my favorite! I must confess that I've adapted it from someone's Slashdot sig:
    $title = 1; $darkness->take($_) foreach ( qw( sight speech hearing arms legs soul ) ); $left = "life in hell";

    Even novices listen :-)

    $sleep = undef unless $brooklyn;

    if (!$vaseline) { return($ice**3); }

    $SaturdayNight++;

    Answers (as if you needed them):
    No Sleep til Brooklyn --Beastie Boys
    No Vaseline -- IceCube
    One More Saturday Night --Grateful Dead

    Here's hoping this revives interest in the film festival! Anyway, I was just listening to it right now and heard some great tunes.

    use Date::Format; print time2str( "%o of %B\n", 994200000 ); magnificent(7); @police && @thieves; pop @balloon; return $gift;

    Solutions:

    4th of July -- Galaxie 500
    Magnificent 7 -- The Clash
    Police and Thieves -- The Clash
    The Last Balloon -- XTC
    Retun the Gift -- Gang of Four

    update: Tip o' the hat to buckaduck for realising that I meant to link to this instead of that.

    And who can forget these timeless classics:
    tie my $fire, 'Tie::Cycle', [ qw( burns burns burns ) ]; time - 86400; $@ eq '' and $! == 0 and $^E eq '' and $? == 0; $you->name;
    "Ring of Fire"
    "Yesterday"
    "Ain't Misbehavin'"
    "I Call Your Name"

    And it turns out that WPRL is out there, but not online. KPRL promises to soon be streaming, if you're into the comedy stylings of Dr. Laura and G.G. Liddy.
