From what I understand in this thread, lots of people see benefits in redesigning the site - what I can't seem to find is some good reasons for not doing it.

If people in charge would give me access to perlmonks codebase, I'd take time and do it myself. Regarding the final theme, I think a poll would be more than welcome

Funny that

Maybe you should read more closely the discussions I and others (especially the OP) linked, and note when tye and other gods or pmdev are talking -- sure its a lot of stuff, but its a lot of stuff :) for example Re: Why PM does not need web stats, Re: RFC: PerlMonks above the fold navigation (size)

I don't have a node handy that explains how it all works ( PerlMonks FAQ, Can I get the PerlMonks source code? ) but it is unlikely you could join gods , even pmdev has requirements you currently don't satisfy

[stevieb]: Torturing one of my dev RPis to turn four 5v stepper motors at the same time (via Parallel:: ForkManager for 50k degrees (a whole lot of full turns!). Let's see if it burns out or not.
[stevieb]: My GPIO expander chips should arrive tomorrow, but I think I'll throw a shift register against them and see if all six I have will turn at once. Amps are near the breaking point, but I want to know max sustainable V and I output.
