In some way, if compared with something sufficiently different (say Fortran), it might exhibit some similarities. Don't expect to like Ruby if you like Perl though and don't expect to like the community if you like this one.

Ruby is an ill-designed language with annoying syntax, artificial restrictions and insanely named builtins and libraries. Luckily the hype has faded away already.

    Are you just quoting Joel or is this your own hard earned opinion?

      It's my own opinion. I had been forced to work with Ruby a few years ago.
