Why not spend some time familiarizing yourself with Catalyst or Dancer, and learn some MySQL? Using the DBI for MySQL it turns out isn't all that much more work than messing with SQLite...

    Why assume I'm not familiar with mysql?

    Who wants to manage deploying mysql (in addition to perl) on every target plaform , instead of DBD::SQLite?

      That's my thinking as well. So far, it looks like DBD::SQLite can do all the database stuff I need, Tk should take care of the GUI, and with pp, I will be able roll the whole thing up into a single .exe that doesn't require installation, doesn't have any dependencies and is less than 10MB in size.

[Corion]: 1nickt: I bought a 2015 XPS 13, which is a very nice and shiney (and somewhat overpriced) machine, but I think it's still better priced than an Apple machine. Now it just has to hold up 10 years like the old one did ;)
