By "in the system" they mean the computer running your code.

    Which, as stated in my original post, is the client.

      You're telling me this why? It doesn't alter my previous post. Any system running your code will need the Oracle client libraries installed, should they wish to run your code which makes use of DBD::Oracle.

        My question is if I can mimic an install such that Perl has these libraries without actually installing the Oracle client. I'm already well aware that I need the libraries, because I knew that, and because the error told me so.

        All of this was stated in my original post, but I apparently need to reiterate it to you, which is why I'm telling you this.
