I've not had any experience with the particular product you point to nor Perl in the SBC arena at large. The current SBCs I'm using are Arduinos which are programmed off board using an IDE (runs on Windows & Linux for sure) in C++. (or a variant of C++) Seems to me there's a trade off to consider here. Do I want the relative comfort level of having a full Debian installation (and I'm doubting that just a hair) with all the overhead or would I be happier with less overhead and programming everything I need "from scratch?"
