The important difference is the frequency in which the words are used. There's a lot of words of Latin-via-French origin in English. Some of them are used often and are not considered in any way special (until someone ornaments them with accents to show he knows how to make them), some are used either within specific groups or to show intellectual superiority. Maybe Ya'akov did not mean to impress us and this is the way he normally speaks, in either case it hurts what he claims to want to do. Especially combined with his long-winded speeches.
Enoch was right!
Enjoy the last years of Rome.
